Pacific Coast Producers, a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking an experienced Line Mechanic to join its team at its Production Facility in Woodland, CA. Our state-of-the-art tomato production facility uses advanced technology to process whole tomatoes into various products such as diced, crushed, stewed, sauces, and paste. With a focus on enhancing product quality, our facility incorporates a cutting-edge sorting system that ensures only the finest tomatoes are used. The Woodland facility stands as a shining example of our unwavering commitment to delivering excellence, while prioritizing efficiency and sustainability every step of the way.

Pay Rate: $37.94 per hour. Full time/ 40 hours per week with some weekend and overtime hours required when needed. This position is part of a seniority-based collective bargaining unit and requires work on various shifts with potential for a great deal of overtime during the processing season.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Interpret sketches, blueprints, and operating instructions to determine proper procedures.
  • Review materials and parts, submitting requisitions as necessary.
  • Lay out work based on provided sketches and drawings.
  • Cut, form, and assemble parts to construct machinery and equipment.
  • Position, align, and anchor machinery.
  • Test and time machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Order maintenance and repair supplies for mechanical work within the department.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to identify necessary repairs and modifications.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain departmental equipment, including palletizers, wrappers, conveyors, and can lines.
  • Understand and manage can line parameters, including: adjusting cable tension; ensuring proper alignment of corners and idlers adjustments; and establishing correct cable speeds.
  • Operate and maintain computerized equipment and machinery when required.
  • Make proper adjustments to can lines, can drops, cable drivers, diverters, and slides.
  • Supervise or provide relief for other roles as needed, including supervisors, machine operators, and crews.
  • Operate a forklift as needed.
  • Perform tasks such as oiling, greasing, painting, and cleaning.
  • Assist other mechanics with general maintenance tasks outside of department-specific work.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the work area/department.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Four or more years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. Associate's degree from a mechanical, electrical, or electronic technology program may be substituted for one year of required experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability, including using power and hand tools.
  • Possess effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and internal customers.
  • Certified to operate a lift truck operator or able to become such.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • Preferred, but not required: experience with making can drops and splicing cables.
