Head of Corporate Strategy, Senior Vice President, Boston

Who we are looking for

The Head of Corporate Strategy is responsible for driving the Strategic Planning Process for State Street and developing an integrated firm-wide strategy. The role will be responsible for overseeing the enterprise's strategic choices, including assessing where and how State Street should develop new avenues for growth, examining what State Street must do to compete and win, and supporting State Street's top leaders in strategic decision making around the corporate portfolio.

This is a great opportunity to lead a high-impact team. Senior management includes many alumni from top management consulting firms and leading industry players. The team has a strong track-record of people development that has resulted in migrations from Corporate Strategy to leadership roles across the firm. In addition this role has direct exposure to State Street's senior management, Executive Committee, CEO and the Board as a strategic advisor. The role reports into the Global Head of Strategy and Corporate Development for State Street.

What you will be responsible for

As Head of Corporate Strategy you will


  • Drive Strategic Planning: Drive firm-wide Strategic Planning process to integrate corporate and growth objectives, business unit and functional strategies into an integrated firm-wide strategy; support and facilitate Executive Committee offsites and the annual Board Strategy Offsite

  • Assess corporate portfolio: Design and drive execution framework to assess strategic progress against 3-year plan; facilitate resource allocation across the organization and identify new areas and concentrated bets where State Street should compete and win

  • Provide strategic leadership across enterprise: Provide leadership oversight on select cross-enterprise/business unit/function strategies, and support select inorganic transactions

  • Act as strategic counselor: Be a proactive counselor to senior Executive Committee members, EVPs and SVPs on strategic and corporate portfolio issues and influence State Street's overall trajectory

  • Lead and develop a team: Attract, coach, and develop a high-performing team and develop a collaborative and challenging team environment; the strategy team is a conduit of talent into State Street

  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization with proven experience developing and maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders including senior c-suite executives, team members, and managers to drive successful completion of the work

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed degree, preferably with a financial or business discipline (MBA, CFA, or equivalent experience)

  • Significant management consulting and corporate strategy leadership experience

  • 10+ years of work experience with top-tier strategy consulting experience preferred

  • Significant exposure to Financial Services and banking, with exposure to asset management, asset servicing, data and analytics, capital markets preferred

  • Proven ability to recruit, coach, develop, and promote high-performing individuals

  • Strong experience in shaping organization's strategy and making decisive bets to advance the strategy

Salary Range:
$225,000 - $337,500 Annual
