Development Manager, Corporate and Foundation Relations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Keystone Symposia is a 50-year non-profit organization that convenes conferences within the biomedical sciences across the globe. This position will serve as a key member of the Development team and will be responsible for building networks and securing gifts to advance our mission to accelerate research within the biomedical and life sciences. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Development Manager, Corporate and Foundation Relations will implement a strategic fundraising plan to drive revenue growth by implementing strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and cultivation. Responsibilities include prospecting, identifying, soliciting, negotiating, and securing gifts, grants and sponsorships. The Development Manager is an ambassador of Keystone Symposia and helps with creating, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with prospects and existing donors. The ideal candidate will be a collegial and entrepreneurial team player with the ability to engage, influence, and persuade others and have a proven track record of fundraising success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with the Development team in the development of fundraising strategies for corporate and foundation partners.
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects by identifying, cultivating, and personally soliciting corporate and foundation partners.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive grants strategy, leveraging expertise in grant writing and relationship building with foundation, corporations and other funding entities with grant requests generally starting at a minimum of $25,000.
  • Oversees corporate and foundation gift and grants from start to finish, including preparation of letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and stewardship.
  • Accompanies the Senior Director of Development and/or the CEO/CSO on select donor visits; travels independently to meet with existing and prospective donors.
  • Demonstrates fundraising competence and desire for growth and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a development environment, preferably in an academic, scientific or healthcare setting.
  • Proven track record of success working in corporate and foundation fundraising, securing 6-8 figure grants.
  • Knowledge of current theory and practice in corporate and foundation relations and engagement, as well as grant writing and management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with PhD scientists and top executives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to conduct research, gather data, and prepare accurate and timely reports.
  • Database management skills

WORK LOCATION:

Silverthorne, Colorado. This position is full-time (40 hours a week) on a hybrid work schedule, 2-3 days per week in our office. The frequency of in-office work can be discussed as part of a final offer.

COMPENSATION:

Salary range is $85,000-$100,000 depending on experience and includes our generous full-time benefits package.
