Arizona G&T Cooperatives is seeking candidates for the position of System Operator I in Benson, AZ. This position will be responsible for acquiring the necessary job skills to perform real-time operations of Bulk Power Systems (BPS) performing real-time actions during normal and emergency conditions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System (BES).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Acquire the knowledge to take prompt and appropriate actions to maintain strict compliance with NERC/WECC Reliability Standards for system operations.
Acquire knowledge of all AEPCO operating procedures & reliability-related tasks under normal and emergency conditions.
To learn normal transmission and distribution switching.
Acquire Knowledge to monitor the power system for voltage control, power factor, and equipment loading.
Acquire knowledge to maintain system frequency and system stability.
Acquire knowledge to respond to Reserve Sharing Group (RSG) emergencies according to the RSG policies and procedures.
Acquire knowledge to monitor, assess, and approve E-tags within the OATI application associated with the AEPCO transmission system.
Become familiar with AEPCO and Metropolitan Water District transmission systems and how they intertie with neighboring systems.
Minimum requirements are a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's Degree in applicable field is preferred. Up to five years of prior work experience in one of the following areas or a combination of the following areas:
Electric utility operations
Technical profession in the utilities field
Related engineering position
Successful candidates should also have High level of critical thinking skills, high level of multi-tasking abilities, above average mathematical aptitude, high level of communication skills including 3-part communications, and reasonable mechanical aptitude. Candidates must have the ability to pass 7-Year background check.
Salary: $6,318.00 - $10,720.34/ monthly (Salary and Level will be dependent upon education and experience)
