Job Summary:




The Lead Medical Assistant is a healthcare professional who is an essential member of the patient-centered health care team. This individual is responsible for assisting the manager/supervisor with daily operations, which include staff assignments and acting as a resource for the patients, providers and support staff in the absence of the manager/supervisor. The Lead MA can also be responsible for assisting with new employee on-boarding and orientation as well as ongoing training for all medical assistants. This individual will act as a liaison to the manager/supervisor regarding issues resolution. The Lead MA will also be expected to perform all tasks as a Medical Assistant as well as any other duties as assigned.



EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:



A minimum of 1 year of healthcare experience is required. A minimum of 2 years of experience in designated specialty and/or other ambulatory setting preferred.


EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:



High school diploma or equivalent required. In addition, individuals must meet one (1) of the following combinations of education and experience:



A.) A graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assistant Program (Associate, Diploma or Certificate).



B.) A graduate of a non CAAHEP or ABHES Medical Assistant program (Associate, diploma, or Certificate) or Military Medic/Corpsman training. In addition to education, one (1) year of formal on the job Medical Assistant experience preferred.



C.) Currently possess and are in good standing with at least one of the following credentials:



a.) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)



b.) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)



c.) Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE).



Incumbents hired through an acquisition may be grandfathered as long as they completed medical assistant training and meet our competency requirements.


LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:



American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. Certification through the AAMA and/or an equal certification board or certification is preferred.
