Job Description:


Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Nonprofit Organization





Salary Range: $175,000 - $200,000

Location: San Francisco

Employment Type: Direct Hire/ Hybrid Schedule



Overview:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nonprofit finance, managing complex grants, and developing sustainable funding strategies. This position requires a collaborative leader who will work closely with the Executive Director and General Counsel, providing oversight and direction for a dedicated finance team of 8 professionals.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  • Manage relationships with memberships, contracts, and grants to ensure compliance and maximize funding opportunities.

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.

  • Monitor cash flow and financial performance, providing timely insights and recommendations to the Executive Director and Board.

  • Lead the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports for stakeholders.

  • Manage complex grant finance operations, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and reporting obligations.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and General Counsel on financial policies and governance matters.

  • Participate in the development of organizational strategies and objectives.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably in a nonprofit environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.

  • CPA certification strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience in nonprofit financial management, including complex grant finance management.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to navigate and adapt in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
