Position Overview


This is a skilled position that will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the driver workforce in regards to delivery, customer service, and safety. This position requires the ability to demonstrate a professional, flexible attitude, and strong organizational, written and verbal skills. Additionally, this position will assist in training RiverBend's dump truck and ready-mix fleet.



Pay: $26 - $30/HR, DOE



Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Monitors dashcam footage and provides coaching and support to the driver fleet.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the driver workforce. Interpret and work effectively within Company guidelines and policies.
  • Supporting operational personnel and sales while building strong, long-term relationships.
  • Recognize sales-related opportunities and collaborate with the sales department to establish new accounts.
  • May be called upon to perform a variety of special projects and studies such as safety evaluations of job sites and projects.
  • Coordinate and resolve delivery access problems.
  • Supports management in annual performance appraisals, hiring, training, and scheduling mentor meetings. Complete required reports and give feedback to Manager in regard to field operations.
  • Communicate regularly with Manager regarding driver efficiency in order to improve productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and assist with audits as required.
  • Follow-up on delivery complaints, driver complaints and be observant of quality control problems and safety concerns.
  • Represent drivers' interests in problems with shop, dispatch, management, office, customers, etc.
  • Observe drivers in the field ensuring timely and efficient deliveries, excellent customer relations, and efficient and safe operation of our equipment.
  • Handle all property damage complaints associated with drivers; ensure proper reporting of incidents and follow-up.
  • Investigate and coordinate with Safety Coordinator all driver-related property damage and industrial injury accidents.
  • Work with dispatch personnel researching truck and driver-related information.
  • May be required to act as a relief driver when needed.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.



Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
  • Class A CDL with current DOT medical card
  • Must have the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English
  • Minimum one year experience working in the concrete and/or aggregate industry.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of trucking or construction industry knowledge preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Smith System Trainer experience preferred
  • Basic mechanical skills preferred



Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with all departments and customers on the phone and in person.
  • Knowledge of the Willamette Valley geographic area
  • Proficient with Windows based software, PC and other forms of technology
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with management, team members, vendors and internal and external customers.



Work Requirements:

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be able to work with / and have a general understanding of all departments in Company facilities
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Willingness and ability to work in all types of weather conditions
  • When in the field, required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Dust masks, Hearing, Hand and Eye protection.
