Position Summary
The MRO Buyer will be primarily responsible for the procurement of products and services needed to maintain equipment, facilities and other functional areas, including engineering and safety supplies. Procure, expedite and seek out new sources of supply to ensure the quantity and quality of items needed to meet production and equipment maintenance requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Work with various departments to determine maintenance, repair and operational supply requirements. Provide production support and coordinate activities involved with procurement of equipment, parts, supplies and services.
• Manage spare parts store(s) and KanBan areas to ensure critical spares, PPE, cleaning supplies and office supplies are always on hand.
• Monitor inventory levels, review usage patterns and place orders to replenish materials and supplies as needed. Source MRO items at the most competitive pricing without compromising quality or reliability.
• Procure major or critical items in a timely and economic manner. Schedule, expedite and follow up as required.
• Perform periodic usage analysis to identify changes in usage rates. Work with responsible teams to identify reasons for these changes. Adjust reorder stock points as needed to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory. Track minimum stock levels for common use items, reordering points and lead times.
• Work collaboratively with crib personnel to identify and implement cost savings opportunities. Perform review of spending to identify opportunities for negotiated discounts. Ensure crib functional responsiveness to needs of production and maintenance groups.
• Negotiate favorable terms, pricing and contracts with vendors while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Maintain accurate records of MRO purchases, contracts and vendor information.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors and proactively seek new vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain - evaluate capabilities, pricing and delivery terms. Monitor supplier performance, changes in quality, capacity and compliance with delivery schedules.
• Generate reports on procurement activities, inventory levels and cost savings initiatives.
• Perform these and other duties as necessary or required, the inclusion of which will not alter the basic scope of the position.
• This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures.
Knowledge & Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products. Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment prints and specifications.
• Knowledge of production and maintenance processes.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
• Proficient utilization and understanding of ERP systems; Oracle experience highly desirable.
• Excellent verbal/written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
• Minimum of an Associate's Degree in business-related field. Bachelor's preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant procurement experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Must be 18 years of age
Work Environment
• Work may involve proximity to manufacturing equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and or hear.
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
• Must be able to lift and move objects of up to 25 pounds.
• Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
