POSITION SUMMARY: The Process Technician is primarily responsible for improving the efficiency of the pad department, which includes but is not limited to troubleshooting operational and quality issues; helping prioritize maintenance and preventative maintenance activities of converting equipment to meet or exceed manufacturing and customer expectations/requirements. The Process Technician will support start up and shut down processes, making sure safety and environmental rules are being followed.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Responsible for the daily activities of the technical aspects of converting processes to ensure that a controlled process is being run and that overall safety practices are being followed.
Oversee and complete converting machine start up and shut down processes, following company standards
Conduct real-time assessments, making necessary adjustments or scheduling maintenance actions as required.
Primary contact for troubleshooting of converting process/equipment problems, analyze problems/solutions
Support the manufacturing of quality product thru material changes and equipment maintenance
Ensure that proper start-up, shutdown, and troubleshooting procedures are followed
Ensure that product specifications and quality procedures are followed
Support Continuous Improvement by proposing and supporting longer term processing solutions that will reduce costs by way of improved scrap rates, enhanced throughput, and optimized efficiency
Ensure all processes are running to baseline and that any changes are properly evaluated and documented with the appropriate change form.
Assist Engineering and R&D teams with trials and improvement opportunities
Improve the equipment and processes to meet current and future business state, to include implementing and tracking projects to completion.
Provide guidance and coordination between operators and maintenance technicians/team.
Work with Continuous Improvement and Quality teams to reduce customer complaints and improve waste performance.
Ensure equipment integrity through timely replacements and repairs of deficiencies, by coordinating with maintenance and operations.
Facilitate knowledge transfer through partnership with Continuous Improvement team by documenting, training and SOP creation
Provide guidance on the management of spare parts inventory.
Provide leadership and direction to operators by coaching and training on manufacturing line specific needs for optimization.
Work with central planning on efficient scheduling of machine
Acts as a mentor/coach for other employees.
Provide staffing feedback to production manager and suggest improvement opportunities.
Experience and Competencies:
High school diploma, technical degree strongly preferred
Five or more years of experience operating continuous manufacturing equipment
Experience performing mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics or pneumatic systems repair is a requirement
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
