Sr. Beverage Scientist - Low Acid The Scientist / Sr. Scientist for Low Acid is responsible for providing technical support to customers and internal teams for formulation solutions and application directions. The Sr. Beverage Low Acid Scientist will be recognized internally as a subject matter expert (SME) in commercialization of all RTD beverage products (low acid) and will yield expertise in other areas as needed. Scientist will work onsite at the facility in SLC, Utah.
Main Job Functions:
Develop, make, and evaluate finished product applications to support new product development efforts, including base development and stabilization
Coordinate and execute new product scale-ups for manufacturing
Hands-on work ethic in solving technical issues, bench work required
Work closely with Sales / Marketing and cross-functional teams on commercializing innovations in formulations and ingredients and effectively communicating about customer projects
Will lead the commercialization of pilot plant and safely operate lab and pilot plant equipment related to UHT processing, spray drying, dry blending, and other areas as assigned
Develop and lead creative initiatives, successfully manage projects, and be recognized as a SME/technical liaison between internal and external stakeholders
Identifies potential problems early in the development process and addresses them with appropriate solutions
Will oversee the set-up, design, and implementation of best lab practices
Actively train direct reports and other team members in all aspects of low acid beverage development and commercialization
Assist in hiring and building out low acid beverage innovation team
Works with Supply Chain to source raw materials needed for the success of product development
May work with customers and co-packers to conduct pilot batches and scaled up product runs

Salary
$80,000 - $120,000
Education: MS in Food Science or related field
Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years commercial experience in variety of low acid beverage categories. Required experience in emerging categories such as coffees, teas, plant protein drinks, functional beverages, dairy based drinks, etc.
Experience in flavor technology preferred
Experience in setting up a pilot plant preferred
