Great opportunity for an Automation Design Engineering Manager to work for a global Manufacturing leader located in Savannah, GA.
Our client is a world leader in transportation/trucking manufacturing looking for an Engineering Manager to be responsible for the management and technical leadership necessary to achieve long range automation goals throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a team of engineers and technicians needed in the development of in-house automation equipment and fixturing.
Responsible for ROI relating to automated equipment and processes. Manages the capital budgets by proposing and justifying equipment costs.
Interact with plant level Manufacturing Engineering departments to determine needs and develop equipment.
Develop and oversee prototype automation equipment for assembly processes.
Vet ideas, lead, and participate in projects from concept to implementation and commissioning.
Determine equipment requirements, design specs, and component selection.
Implement new and revised technologies to improve quality and productivity.
Types of projects include equipment replacement/upgrade, new application of technologies, and process and equipment development.
Solicits and negotiates bids from outside contractors and vendors. Supervises the completion of projects by outside contractors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
5+ years' of Automation Design Engineering experience
In depth knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
Technical knowledge in mechanical design
Technical knowledge in machine function, PLC, servo drives, and electronic systems
