Role Overview: The Senior Cloud Engineer will lead cloud development initiatives on Google Cloud, focusing on transitioning bioinformatics applications from traditional in-house servers to a scalable web platform. The ideal candidate will be a Google Cloud expert with strong experience in web-based application development, backend APIs, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain cloud environments (development, staging, production).
Collaborate with external software development teams.
Monitor cloud health and control operational costs with IT.
Engage in backend development and cloud component integration.
Design APIs and perform code reviews while mentoring junior engineers.
Ensure compliance with CI/CD best practices and security protocols.
Qualifications:
Expertise in Google Cloud technologies (GKE, Gcloud, Terraform, etc.).
Extensive experience in web-based application development with a focus on backend APIs.
