Sr Principal Data Platform Engineer

We're looking for a Sr Principal Data Platform Engineer with expertise in building data pipelines within Java and JVM environments. This Austin-based role is ideal for someone passionate about developing highly scalable applications, with experience in enterprise-level or security products, and thrives in dynamic, fast-paced settings.

What you'll do:
  • Lead the design and implementation of innovative SaaS solutions with a focus on building scalable data pipelines.
  • Architect and build pipelines that integrate with other systems using RESTful APIs.
  • Refactor and optimize existing codebases to improve scalability and performance in high-growth environments.
  • Provide technical leadership, guiding the product roadmap and supporting cross-functional collaboration.
  • Design solutions, review code, assist junior developers, and drive technical decisions.
  • Write clean, high-quality code following industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with global, high-performing teams to meet complex technical challenges.
  • Participate in requirements review, plan releases, future production direction and recruitment

Should Have:
  • 10+ years of experience with Java/Spring Boot (or similar) for building SaaS applications.
  • Proven experience in building and scaling data pipelines.
  • Experience with database management systems like Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
  • Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience with system performance tuning, capacity estimation, and application profiling.
  • Solid automation experience, including test scripting and test data management.
  • Expertise in modeling and analyzing workloads to inform system architecture.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex performance data to stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • BS and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
