Job Summary:
The CNC Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing CNC machining processes to produce high-precision aerospace and defense components. This role involves collaborating with design and production teams to ensure the efficient and accurate manufacturing of parts that meet stringent industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Development: Design and implement CNC machining processes for new and existing products, ensuring high precision and efficiency.
Programming: Create and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM (NX) software to produce complex geometries and tight tolerances. Programming 3, 4, 5 axis CNC lathes (live tooling).
Develop: 2D process drawings, work instructions, tool lists, and operation sheets.
Tooling and Fixtures: Select and design appropriate tooling and fixtures to support machining operations.
Quality Control: Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure all parts meet required specifications and standards.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to CNC machining processes, including machine setup, tooling, and programming.
Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall process efficiency.
Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, production teams, and quality assurance to ensure seamless integration of CNC processes into the manufacturing workflow.
Training: Provide training and support to CNC machinists and operators to ensure proper use of equipment and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Experience: Proven experience in CNC machining and manufacturing within the aerospace or defense industry.
Skills:
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., NX).
Strong understanding of CNC machinery and machining processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Knowledge of quality control standards and practices.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must have NX software experience.
Experience with composite materials and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
Experience with automation and robotics in CNC machining.
