What: UX Content Designer

Where: Hybrid in Torrance, CA (Open to Remote)

Term: Long Term Contract

Pay: $50-60/hr

Our client is looking for content designers who are highly collaborative and focused on user needs. The role involves creating content that addresses both business goals and customer challenges. You'll work closely with UX teams, developers, and other stakeholders to craft, write, edit, and test content for digital platforms, including mobile and in-vehicle systems, ensuring that customers can easily access and understand the information they require.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead content creation for major projects, becoming an expert in the product's features and business goals, while also deeply understanding customer needs.

- Collaborate with UX designers throughout the project lifecycle, developing content as you refine user flows and prototypes with design partners.

- Conduct content discovery through audits, competitive analysis, and inventory management.

- Organize and structure content for easier discovery and accessibility.

- Write clear, accessible content for interface elements like dialogs, tooltips, alerts, labels, and onboarding instructions.

- Identify when user research is necessary to shape content strategies and collaborate with researchers on data-driven content improvements.

- Evaluate and enhance content through testing, including A/B testing and usability studies, using customer feedback and analytics.

- Work with UX and research teams to conduct surveys, workshops, and other discovery methods to guide content creation.

- Present and explain content decisions to stakeholders, ensuring that content design choices are aligned with business goals and customer needs.

- Advocate for user-focused content, fostering empathy for users among project stakeholders.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Journalism, Communications, Research, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

- Ability to collaborate effectively, maintaining curiosity and an open-minded approach.

- Strong writing and editing skills, with a solid grasp of English grammar and mechanics.

- Ability to work within established brand voice and tone guidelines.

- Experience with design tools and methods, including Figma.

- Knowledge of design thinking and user-centered design principles, including facilitating workshops.

- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.

- Comfortable working in an environment with ambiguity and adapting as needed.

- Capable of translating complex business needs into straightforward, user-friendly content.

Preferred Skills:

- Ability to contribute to the ongoing development of the UX content style guide.

- Familiarity with accessibility standards, including WCAG 2, ensuring content meets inclusivity and accessibility guidelines.

- Experience working in agile environments, contributing to design sprints, and using tools like Jira for task management and content tracking.
