Job Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with expertise in telemetry systems to join their Connectivity Data Science and Engineering Organization. You will work closely with a dynamic team of architects and engineers to design, implement, and optimize data feeds for their next-generation network telemetry systems, focusing on transitioning from legacy systems to streaming telemetry. This role will focus on enhancing the telemetry capabilities of DOCSIS environments, distributed access architecture (DAA), wireless infrastructure, and proactive network maintenance (PNM) systems.
Key Responsibilities
Telemetry Systems Development: Lead the engineering of data pipelines for real-time telemetry data streams from DOCSIS environments, supporting modulation changes around network impairments and optimizing network performance.
Data Pipeline Architecture: Design and implement scalable data pipelines using modern data engineering tools and technologies, such as Python, Kafka, AWS, and advanced SQL.
Data Feed Integration: Analyze and engineer features into existing SMP and legacy data feeds, positioning them for transition to streaming telemetry systems.
Performance Monitoring & Adjustments: Support telemetry projects related to Distributed Access Architecture (DAA), DOCSIS 4.0, and wireless infrastructure. Ensure seamless integration of telemetry data into system functionality.
Symmetrical Speed Improvement: Identify and implement engineering solutions to support higher symmetrical speeds across the network.
Legacy System Transition: Evaluate legacy data feeds and streaming telemetry options, mapping out gaps and creating innovative solutions to support customer needs through the transition.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with stakeholders across Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM), Network Operations (NetOps), and Customer Care to ensure effective operational support.
Innovative Telemetry Solutions: Lead the identification and deployment of new data collection and distribution strategies, with a focus on DAA, harmonic, Wi-Fi, and wireless systems.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on telemetry systems.
Proficient in data engineering tools and techniques, including:
Python
Advanced SQL
AWS for data storage and processing
Kafka for data streaming
Experience with Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) and wireless infrastructure.
Ability to analyze legacy feeds (SMP, DOCSIS) and transition them to streaming telemetry solutions.
Strong architectural skills with a focus on scalable data pipelines and distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with DOCSIS protocols
Experience with proactive network maintenance solutions.
Understanding of DAA, Wi-Fi, and wireless networks.
