Position: Senior Data Engineer

Overview:

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be pivotal in modernizing our data platforms and practices. Your role encompasses several key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Platform Management: Assess, enhance, and upgrade our data platforms, incorporating emerging technologies and cloud-based solutions to boost scalability, accessibility, and security.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and refine standardized procedures for data management, governance, integration, quality, and lifecycle management to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, business units, and senior management to promote data-driven initiatives, nurture a data-centric culture, and align with organizational goals.
  • Performance and Innovation: Oversee and enhance the Firm's data platforms (primarily Microsoft SQL Server), optimize data engineering processes, identify improvement opportunities, and drive innovation to improve data processing efficiency, data quality, and system performance.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5 years as a Database Architect/Data Engineer with a proven track record working with Microsoft SQL Server and related technologies.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in Microsoft data development tools (SSMS, Visual Studio Data Tools).
  • Advanced T-SQL development, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • SQL Server performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Extensive SSIS integration experience; experience with Data Factory is a plus.
  • Advanced SSRS skills.
  • Proficiency in Powershell scripting for database operations and automation.
  • Experience with C# scripting in SSIS (Script Task).
  • Data warehousing experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Azure.
  • Knowledge of OpenAI technologies and leveraging data for their effective use.
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft Azure Data Platform.
  • Expertise in using and administering Azure "Power" platform tools for data and automation.
  • Experience with Git for source control.
  • Handling API calls and return data in JSON and XML.
  • Intermediate to advanced HTML and CSS skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Python.
  • Experience with Agile workflows.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Genuine interest in database technologies and data analytics.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, teamwork, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • General Linux experience.
  • Familiarity with common law firm application databases such as Aderant Expert, iManage, WestKM, Foundation, etc.
  • Experience with Idera SQL Diagnostics Manager for SQL monitoring and troubleshooting.
