Job Description:

The VP Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the supply chain operations. This position develops and implements strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain performance. The VP Supply Chain collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of products or services, manages vendor relationships, and identifies opportunities for process improvements. The VP also monitors key performance indicators, analyzes data, and makes data-driven decisions to drive operational excellence and achieve organizational goals. In addition, this position is also responsible for developing, negotiating, and executing plans focused in the areas of contract services and physician preference areas, while maximizing business diversity opportunities. The Vice President Supply Chain is responsible for developing comprehensive clinical and utilization protocols and developing and executing a product standardization plan for the entire health network.

Responsibilities:

Establishes and maintains a continuous improvement program for all supply chain functions with the goal to standardize and optimize procurement, distribution and facility-based supply chain activities.
• Makes strategic recommendations and executes a course of action for all elements of supply expense management and supply chain operations.
• Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs and challenges which may include clinicians, physicians and leadership.
• Responsible for the proper accounting and disbursement of funds (payments) owed to vendors for goods or services. Assures that proper protocols exist for authorization of such transactions in regard to district policy, dollar limits, budget requirements, internal control, and other criteria.
• Partners with Finance to develop standardized documents, processes, and calculations for use by the team to quantify savings solutions.
• Responsible for all procurement activities within the system, purchasing / contract compliance, inventory management, asset disposal, vendor relationship and supply chain processes and policies.
• Evaluates and documents the flow of material through the hospital network. Identifies variabilities/gaps in sourcing, logistics, distribution, and inventory management and recommend process redesign for service improvement and cost reduction.
• Establishes a set of performance metrics for entities and supply intensive departments which measures productivity. Metrics should show an increase in unit-based inventory turns, elimination of duplicative inventories, reduction in official inventories, minimization of inventory write-offs and improved customer satisfaction.
• Leverages materials management technology solutions to create optimal efficiencies and ensure appropriate information linkages to other systems, e.g., surgical information systems and patient charge masters. These technologies include materials management information / inventory systems, point of use technology, and e-commerce.
• Quantifies the health network's total cost for materials distribution functions and develops sustainable targets for cost reduction through efficiencies and elimination of redundant processes.
• Develops training and mentoring program for staff who support materials functions and builds core expertise onsite at the entity level.
• Assures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies for all departments under the scope of authority of this position.
• Reviews and approves all inventory write-offs/adjustments.
• Provides leadership over specific business segments by managing projects, fostering innovation, initiating improvement and developing new programs.
• Leads budgeting and equipment investment and resource allocation decisions.
• Ensures that financial performance of assigned areas meets or exceeds budget in regard to revenue and expense.
• Participates in and / or leads teams in the development of opportunities, oversight of implementation of new projects and / or day to day operations.
• Develops excellent professional relationships with relevant entities and individuals.
• Develops direct reports by defining roles/responsibilities and expectations, assigning and communicating performance, and promoting professional growth and accountability. Assists leaders in communicating and aligning work priorities with the organizational vision, mission, values, and service standards.

Required Qualifications:
• Master's degree in supply chain management, Business, Healthcare Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
• 10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or healthcare management, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
• Active membership in the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 plus years of prior experience with Lawson Supply Chain modules and organizational transformation of Supply Chain Management in an Enterprise Resource Planning environment.
• Experience in healthcare supply chain operations.
• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
• Certified Materials & Resource Professionals (CMRP).

Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of healthcare purchasing, inventory management systems, procurement, supply distribution, warehouse operations and capital equipment acquisition.
• Knowledge of and proficiency with general hospital operations and regulatory compliance.
• Highly skilled in network-based, computer applications including, but not limited to, spreadsheets, data bases and word processing.
• Skill in time management, including the ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate multiple work areas and assignments under fast paced and changing conditions to meet deadlines.
• Skill at analytical and clerical perception required to avoid and detect errors in reports and other documents.
• Skill in the application of computers and software and MS Office to include Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Word.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and review work on projects involving complex business and technical matters.
• Ability to recruit and retain competent staff. Demonstrates coaching skills that will foster employee development, productivity, growth, satisfaction, loyalty and commitment.
• Ability to accurately produce quality work with limited supervision and guidance.
• Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations that will increase the resources of the organization.
• Ability to maintain and organize records, work papers and other required data.
• Ability to tolerate stress and meet internally and externally established deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to be professional and courteous when interacting with personnel at all levels.
