Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Imaging Equipment Technician to join our hospital team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of advanced medical imaging equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and performance. This position plays a crucial role in supporting diagnostic processes by keeping imaging devices running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with a range of imaging devices, primarily GE Healthcare equipment, as well as systems from other leading vendors such as Philips, Siemens, Toshiba/Canon Medical, and Hitachi.
Perform preventive maintenance, routine testing, and timely repairs on imaging systems to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
Calibrate equipment for optimal image quality and operational efficiency.
Maintain accurate documentation for all repairs, maintenance schedules, and upgrades to comply with regulatory standards and for effective equipment management.
Technical Support & Expertise:
Provide technical support to hospital departments, imaging technologists, and clinical staff, offering guidance for troubleshooting, operation, and on-site problem resolution.
Coordinate with equipment manufacturers for advanced technical support, part replacements, and complex issue resolution as necessary.
Support the integration and configuration of imaging equipment with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) and RIS (Radiology Information Systems).
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure all imaging equipment is operated and maintained according to federal, state, and hospital guidelines.
Assist in developing and implementing equipment use protocols and safety standards to ensure patient care quality and staff safety.
Participate in equipment evaluation and provide recommendations for the procurement of new imaging technologies and system upgrades.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
At least 5 years of hands-on experience with medical imaging systems, focusing on troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance.
Strong familiarity with GE Healthcare imaging systems and experience working with other major vendors such as Philips, Siemens, Toshiba/Canon Medical, and Hitachi is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Extensive knowledge of medical imaging principles, equipment hardware, and software.
Experience with networking and system integration related to PACS/RIS for smooth data management and transfer.
Strong understanding of safety regulations, quality assurance practices, and operational standards for imaging systems.
Certifications:
Certification in Biomedical Engineering, Imaging Technology, or Electronics (e.g., AAMI, CBET) is highly desirable.
Additional certifications from equipment manufacturers (e.g., GE, Siemens) are a plus.
Work Environment:
Full-time onsite position within hospital settings.
Involves hands-on work with imaging equipment in clinical environments, with adherence to safety protocols and handling of biohazards as necessary.
Standard working hours with possible on-call support for urgent equipment issues.
