We are currently seeking aFacility Technician/Dispatchto join our Information Maintenance Team at our Twentymile Mine location.Reporting to the Lead Electrical Supervisor. The scope of your role will be toMaintain security and critical communication link through Mine Monitor, UG Phone system, surface communications and telephone communications.This role offers a great opportunity for growth and to expand knowledge and skills.
Twentymile mine is an underground coal mine located in Colorado's scenic Yampa Valley about 20 miles outside Steamboat Springs, a ski resort and vacation destination. The surrounding area has towns both large and small including Oak Creek, Craig, Hayden, and Steamboat Springs. Hunting and fishing are very popular in this area. Shotgun and archery hunting is allowed on Peabody property for employees with proper authorization.
Peabody Twentymile has a safety-first culture and has been recognized two years in a row by the National Mining Association as the safest underground coal mine in the United Sates. The award recognizes coal and mineral mining operations with the lowest MSHA reportable injury rate. In 2023, Twentymile completed three years without a single reportable injury.
The Pay Rate for this position is between $29.84 - $36.60/hour depending on experience.
Duties will include:
CONSPEC: Monitoring, Record Keeping, Responding to Alarms, Programming Primary and Graphics Computers, Performing Weekly Minewide, Bi-Annual UG Tour to Maintain AMS Certification.
TRACKING: Monitoring, Record Keeping, Locating People and Equipment, Running Reports, Rebooting the Server, Responding to Alarms, Updating the Tracking Maps, Changing Tag Batteries.
CAPLAMPS: Permissing, Assigning, Programming Tracking Tags, Repairing, Record Keeping.
METERS: Checking In and Out, Calibrating, Bump Testing, Cleaning, Repairing, Assigning, Record Keeping
PHONES: Checking In and Out, Programming, Assigning, Cleaning, Repairing, Record Keeping.
RADIOS: Checking In and Out, Cleaning.
PROX BOXES: Checking In and Out, Testing for Proper Operation, Cleaning, Record Keeping.
PRESHIFTS: Taking Preshifts/Dust Checks and accurately putting them in the books.
VIOLATION SHEETS: Going thru the Belt Books and compiling the items needing attention into an Excel file.
HAZARD TRAINING: Perform UG and Surface Hazard Training, SCSR Training, Filling out 5000-23 Forms, Checking/Entering Hazard Training into the Database.
MISC ITEMS: Truck Scales, Security Gates, Hot Work Permits, Updating the Portal Signs, Operation of the Lightning System, Brass Tags, Making Signs, Weather Computer Operation, How to do a Mine Evacuation, Handling Injury Calls, Performing Drug/Alcohol Tests, Be Familiar with the ERP, Doing UG/Surface Tours, Ordering Parts and Equipment, Fan Charts, Monthly Fan Checks, MSDS Database, Laminate Items as needed, Taking Outside Phone Calls, Relaying Messages.

About you:
P.C. experience (familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel).
Knowledge of the underground and surface mining areas:
knowledge of the personnel that work at the mine, security, and emergency procedures.
Knowledge of the Conspec system.
Knowledge of inventory controls.
Must be able to type 30-40 words a minute.
Able to maintain log of daily activities in security, vendors, and visitors, with accuracy.
Must be able to program Conspec mine monitor and graphic screens with reasonable training.
Ability to work all shifts, days and required holidays.
EMT Certification preferred.
Lamp and gas card, MSHA CH4 and O2 cards or ability to obtain cards is required.
Security experience preferred.
Physical requirements:
Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
Must have the ability to lift/raise up to 80 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift.
Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, water varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays
