Job Description:



The Construction Manager (CM) is a crucial member of the nuclear projects field implementation management team. This role is dedicated to ensuring the success of projects impacting the power block by achieving performance objectives, staying on schedule, and meeting budget milestones. The CM frequently interacts with nuclear industry contractors at various levels, including General Superintendent, Supervisor, General Foreman, and Foreman, to support their success. Additionally, the CM collaborates directly with contracted craft, suppliers, work order planners, Health Physics (HP), Radiation Protection (RP), and station personnel to assist the Project Manager in completing capital projects, testing, and turning systems over to the station on time and within budget.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage a construction team to ensure project activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and at the required quality level.

  • Communicate daily with other leaders for management direction and feedback.

  • Participate in presentations to internal customers regarding project status, including complex technical, organizational, and financial issues.

  • Conduct complex analyses of problems involving construction activities.

  • Develop innovative strategies to achieve milestones early.

  • Perform risk analyses and provide decision authority for corrective actions and priority setting.

  • Optimize construction efficiency by providing input and involvement throughout project phases.

  • Foster a team concept when interfacing with Operations, Maintenance, and other departments.

  • Attend meetings, provide reports, and resolve complex problems.


Job Duties:



  • Ensure construction teams can execute assigned scope safely, securely, and cost-effectively.

  • Balance and prioritize construction resources for successful execution.

  • Represent projects on assigned teams and work with other functions to safely execute project scope.

  • Maintain ongoing communication to secure necessary resources and address concerns.

  • Review project performance for cost and schedule effectiveness through reporting and analysis.

  • Ensure corrective actions are taken and monitor project safety, cost, schedule, and quality performance.

  • Communicate baseline status, manpower needs, and recommended corrective actions to supervisors and managers.

  • Hold construction team members accountable for performance and compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Take necessary actions to meet project quality, scope, budget, and schedule baselines.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or project management preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in nuclear power plant projects.

  • Experience managing large-scale, outside contractors.

  • In-depth knowledge of construction, cost and scheduling, subcontract administration, and construction strategies.

  • Comprehensive understanding of project planning, operations, maintenance, project start-up, and construction management.

  • Experience working in radiological areas with a history of planning and executing work in such environments.

  • Ability to manage complex, high-risk, large-scale projects.

  • Experience in commercial nuclear power plant system replacements/upgrades.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
