Your Role:



We are seeking an experienced Senior Operational Technology Engineer to join our Mobius Engineering Automation Team in Danvers, MA. This role focuses on designing, qualifying, delivering, and maintaining process control systems for manufacturing and laboratory operations, emphasizing automation equipment development, implementation, and validation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Serve as the system owner and subject matter expert for various systems, including:

- Automation Network and Infrastructure / ISA95


- Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)


- Data Historian (OSIPI)

  • Lead system maintenance, including patch management and updates, while coordinating support for incident and change management.

  • Define the systems lifecycle strategy in collaboration with stakeholders and external partners.

  • Ensure compliance with quality and documentation practices.

  • Support Automation Project Engineers by connecting projects to operational environments and facilitating smooth project handovers.

  • Maintain vendor relationships throughout the technology lifecycle to minimize disruptions and manage version upgrades.

  • Contribute to project definition, budgeting, planning, and implementation as needed.

  • Participate in Technical Risk Reviews (TRR) for projects involving ICT/Networking/Cyber Security.

  • Manage site OT systems, including process control systems, data historians, and PLC/SCADA interfaces.

  • Collaborate with local and global IT organizations for system revisions and upgrades supporting manufacturing operations.

  • Develop GMP-compliant documentation (URS, FAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, PM, SOPs) and perform maintenance support on instruments.

  • Utilize expertise in PLC programming, networking, and electrical systems to ensure operability of production machines and develop control systems for new machines.

  • Review and analyze sub-supplier deliverables (codes, schematics, documentation).

  • Create and manage network topology and I/O lists.

  • Provide guidance for the safe installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical control systems.

  • Adhere to regulatory requirements (GMP, ISO, NFPA 79, ISO 13849-1, ANSI-95).

  • Implement Configuration Management Principles to maintain the validated state of automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Act as the subject matter expert for automation activities, including change control and validation.


This position requires onsite presence; remote work is not an option.




Who You Are:



Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in defining, designing, developing, and implementing production control systems for advanced technology facilities, including OT system design and execution of digitalization projects.

  • Advanced knowledge of OT systems and orchestration, such as DCS, PLC, HMI, Data Historians, MES/EBR, Batch Systems, and LIMS.

  • Hands-on experience in diagnosing, maintaining, installing, and setting up OT systems hardware and software.

  • Willing to travel internationally up to 10-20% as required.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with PLC programming, motion control, and HMI (AB PLCs and Rockwell Software products).

  • Background in a commercial medical, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of Rockwell Software packages or similar systems (e.g., Transaction Manager, Metrics, Asset Center).

  • Self-directed with a strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and a positive attitude.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.

  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and self-driven.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work with site teams and collaborate with Global Life Sciences OT and Operations teams.

  • Knowledge of implementing layers of protection for cybersecurity in OT and IT environments.

  • Advanced understanding of OT infrastructure design, software engineering, and IT security.
