Position: Employment Assistant Professional
Location: Houston, Texas
Rate of Pay: $45,000 - $48,000
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
This Employment Assistance Professional is available in our Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities program of VOATX that is responsible for the operation, coordination, instruction and supervision of individuals in the Life Enrichment Center facilities. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for achieving the individual's desired employment outcome.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Provides for the complete care of individual consumers, which includes direct supervision of activities of daily living as well as assisting the individuals in become work or job ready.
Identifies the individual's employment preference, job skills, and requirements for work setting and work conditions.
Locates prospective employers offering employment capatible with the individual's preference and skill.
Provides reinforcement of counseling and therapy activities.
Conducts training related to an individual's assessed needs specific to his/her employment.
Performs job analysis to determine if a potential job meets the interests and needs of the individual.
Assists the individual with job applications, pre-employment forms, practice interviews, and pre-employment testing.
Accompanies individuals to job interviews.
Maintains records of employment and other required documentation for the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma plus two years experience.
A reasonable combination of the following is required: knowledge of behavioral patterns and problems of individuals with developmental disabilities. Knowledge of basic homemaking skills; availability of community resources; identification of consumer training needs; development and implementation of training plans; and documentation of care and training; and physical ability to assist or respond to consumer needs in their personal environment.
Tolerance, patience, consistency, flexibility and creativity in dealing with individual consumers and families are strongly preferred and very important to success.
Must have valid Texas Driver License
