Job Details:

The Department of Psychology at Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin August 2025. Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have documented evidence of teaching excellence in the area of Biopsychology/Neuroscience, a research program capable of involving undergraduate students, and a commitment to serving a diverse student population. Candidates who teach in the area of Biopsychology and are interested in teaching Research Methods & Statistics and Introduction to Psychology will be preferred. Biopsychology courses the department offers include: Biopsychology, Drugs & Behavior, Sensation & Perception, Learning, Biological Bases of Behavior, and Hormones & Behavior. Opportunities to teach other courses related to the candidate’s background or interests are possible.

Standard teaching load is 21 semester hours per academic year, which translates as three courses per semester with usually only two preps. Responsibilities include teaching, research, and service to the department/college/university. To support faculty research, the department currently has access to Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) and a vivarium for rodent studies and is in the process of obtaining eye-tracking equipment.

Qualifications:
A PhD from an accredited college/university in Biopsychology, Neuroscience, or a related field with demonstrated connections to Biopsychology is required. A candidate with ABD status would be considered at the Instructor rank until the PhD has been completed.
