Department:Communications and EngagementPay Rate Type:SalaryEmployee Type:Job Summary:The College is seeking a highly motivated assistant director of annual giving. Reporting to the executive director of annual giving, the assistant director will help develop and project manage multichannel annual giving campaigns in support of returning Colby to an alumni participation rate over 40%, and a $11M+ annual giving revenue goal. They will be deeply involved with the operations of the Colby Fund, serving as the primary point on the College's social fundraising platform and as lead on data and segmentation strategy and execution. They will also have the opportunity to manage a small portfolio of annual giving prospects and work closely with volunteers on the Alumni Council's Colby Fund Committee. Another key responsibility will be refining and then managing the Colby Fund Student Ambassador program

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:





  • Co-lead key Colby Fund programs and operations with the Executive Director of Annual Giving: Giving Days, Colby Commitment Challenge, 1813 Society, and other crowdfunding opportunities. Work includes developing and maintaining project plans for campaigns and appeals; segmentation strategy based on data analysis; serving as the primary user of Give Campus, the College's crowdfunding platform; and GetThru, the College's texting platform.




  • Analyze metrics and key performance indicators for respective initiatives and programs; create reports to summarize results and make recommendations for future strategies and tactics.




  • Partner with prospect managers to identify and develop annual giving prospects as well as identify opportunities for challenge donors as part of broad-based campaigns.




  • Manage the Colby Fund Student Ambassador program, ensuring proper staffing and deployment of alumni engagement and solicitation strategies.




  • Manage a portfolio of 25-50 prospective Colby Fund donors. The successful candidate must be comfortable asking for philanthropic support for the college.




  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Annual Giving and the Director of Donor Relations to recruit, supervise, and manage the efforts of the 1813 Society Committee and 1813 Society Ambassadors; work with these volunteers to promote peer-to-peer gift cultivation and solicitation.




  • Collaborate with the Donor Relations team to ensure the accurate and meaningful stewardship of gifts to the Colby Fund.




  • Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time or without notice.





QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in education and experience




  • Minimum of 1-3 years of fundraising, program management, or equivalent experience




  • Experience working with volunteers is preferred but not required






  • Demonstrated success in making and closing annual fund asks is preferred






  • Talent to manage multiple projects and priorities while working within deadlines to achieve ambitious goals






  • Must be flexible, have great attention to detail, show initiative, and have a results-driven philosophy with the ability to problem-solve




  • Talent to manage complex relationships, and proven collaboration and teamwork skills to leverage activities, initiatives, and programs for multiple purposes




  • Excellent organizational skills




  • Ability to handle confidential information tactfully




  • Highly developed computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with fundraising software such as GiveCampus and Raiser's Edge is a plus




  • Appreciation of Colby's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it




  • An entrepreneurial spirit and proactive attitude







KEY RELATIONSHIPS

:


Reporting to the executive director of annual giving, the assistant director of annual giving will have direct contact with various members of the Division of College Advancement, College Administration, families, and students, particularly those on the marketing and communications, donor relations, annual giving, and major/principal gifts teams.





WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

:


General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Ability to move around campus and interact with faculty, staff, students, parents/alumni, and external constituencies regularly is crucial. Travel and work outside of normal business hours are required.
