Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric ophthalmic diseases and/or vision science. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching pediatric ophthalmology fellows, ophthalmology and pediatric residents, and medical students.
Clinical responsibilities may include clinical and surgical activity at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in outpatient and inpatient settings. The clinical practice will focus on medical and surgical management of newborn, pediatric, and adolescent patients and will include on-call responsibilities. Clinical practice will also include outpatient clinics and outpatient surgery at CHOP Specialty Care Centers and Ambulatory Surgery Centers in the Philadelphia region, as well as the primary CHOP hospital site and CHOP King of Prussia Hospital site. Clinical and surgical ophthalmology practice for adult patients at the Scheie Eye Institute main or satellite locations is also possible, depending on the practice and interests of the applicant.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include development and/or continuation of an active, funded research program in pediatric ophthalmology. This position may be supported by external funding. Publication in high-impact journals and presentations at major society meetings nationally and internationally is also expected, as well as contribution to the general development of the research program in Pediatric Ophthalmology at CHOP.
