Earlham College is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team!



Summary:



Under supervision, perform administrative, clinical, and technical support services for Earlham College Health and Counseling Services departments; provide a variety of direct and indirect health-related services.


The Medical Assistant works within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, collaborates with faculty, staff, students, and community agencies in the delivery of health support services, coordinates multiple services within Health and Counseling Services including referrals, scheduling, and intake procedures; provides administrative support and coordination for scheduling, projects, events, and department operations; assesses patient needs and makes appropriate referrals.





Essential Functions:




Patient Care Responsibilities:




  • Provide direct client services such as administering first aid to ill or injured students and staff; take vital signs, collect and process lab specimens, and perform other authorized tests and procedures.

  • Provide reception, intake, and referral services for students seeking specialized health and counseling resources and support services.

  • Refer patients and serve as a liaison to appropriate individuals for health and counseling services.

  • Provide technical assistance in quality assurance activities, including development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.

  • Prepare reports regarding health and counseling statistics.

  • Maintain supply inventory and restock exam rooms.

  • Prepare medical record notes and assist in medical record management, including obtaining requested records, scanning records, updating medication and allergy information, and updating personal information.

  • Perform patient check-in, including obtaining and recording vital signs, height, weight, chief complaint, and brief relevant history. Prepare patients for examination or visit, as appropriate.

  • Collect blood samples (and other specimens) and prepare them for laboratory testing, including entering the order in the receiving laboratory services.


Supplies and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintain supply inventory and order supplies as needed.

  • Restock exam rooms, maintain equipment, and ensure they are working properly.



Daily Functioning:




  • Participate in the review of health and counseling services schedules and space needs.

  • Provide clerical support.

  • Facilitate the coordination of patient services within Health and Counseling Services.

  • Prepare and maintain medical records (both electronic and paper), including filing, scanning, copying, and faxing.



Professional Development & Continuing Education

Qualifications

  • Must possess proof of current CPR certification.

  • Certified Medical Assistant Certificate or Degree from an accredited program/institution
