Associate Director of Student and Alumni Engagement


Overview:

St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. The University's residential campus boasts a robust living and learning community and a successful intercollegiate athletics program. Position Summary:


St. John Fisher University
is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Associate Director of Student-Alumni Engagement. This pivotal role is essential in developing and executing programs that forge meaningful connections through the student-to-alumni lifecycle, enhancing the student experience and cultivating a vibrant, lifelong alumni network. The Associate Director will work closely with campus partners and the Senior Director of Alumni and Constituent Engagement to identify and implement strategic opportunities that harness the expertise and enthusiasm of our alumni community. Many of these initiatives will connect students with alumni to prepare them for successful careers after graduation, while others will involve alumni in supporting faculty and staff across various university activities.




This role will also focus on alumni early engagement and establishing strong connections with students from their first year through graduation and into their early years as alumni, fostering a deep, lifelong relationship with the University.




The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills who is committed to nurturing lasting relationships within the University community.



Key Responsibilities


Partnership and Program Development:


  • Oversee the student-to-alumni lifecycle, partnering with key stakeholders to ensure programming begins with student engagement and continues through the alumni experience.

  • Partner with Career Services to develop and execute key programs and events that support students' career exploration, including career fairs, Fisher Flight, job shadowing, alumni workshops, and other opportunities that focus on alumni sharing their expertise and career experiences.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to understand the current role of alumni in the classroom and support efforts to recruit and engage alumni volunteers for departmental curricular and extracurricular programs.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key campus partners and student-run organizations to increase alumni contributions to the student educational experience.








Student and Alumni Relations:




  • Strengthen student and early alumni engagement by establishing a "Fisher for Life" paradigm through programs, events, and communications that highlight the importance of alumni and the critical role of philanthropy in the University's success.

  • Leverage LinkedIn as our main networking platform, incorporating expert-recommended best practices and supporting strong student outcomes in professional employment and ongoing educational opportunities.

  • Support efforts for student adaptation while managing consistent, intentional communication that encourages and generates active participation from students and alumni.





Data Management and Reporting:




  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student and alumni engagement activities, tracking participation and engagement metrics.

  • Maintain data on alumni who have self-identified as willing to connect with students and serve as the main point of contact for those inquiries.





Education / Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in development/alumni relations, higher education experience, or a related field.








Competencies / Skills:



  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals across various departments and organizational levels.

  • Proficiency in using CRM systems, LinkedIn, databases, and relevant software to manage and analyze alumni data and engagement metrics.

  • Flexibility to adjust your approach or role within the team based on changing needs or dynamics, including being open to feedback and willing to take on different tasks as necessary.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop strategic plans and adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage high work volumes, often seasonally.

35-hour work week with night and weekend events as needed.

$58,500.00 - $66,300.00 per year
