Clinician I (Unlicensed) - MCRT (215)

The Clinician I is a vital member of the 24/7 Crisis Mobile Response Team, providing support to individuals of all ages experiencing mental health or substance use crises. This role involves responding to a variety of non-life-threatening mental health calls and situations independently, without police or EMS personnel. The Clinician I will offer crisis triage, symptom management, risk assessment, in-person psychoeducation, case management services, and follow-up linkage within 72 hours. The goal is to assist individuals in maintaining stability and remaining in their community settings.
How will I contribute
Dispatch and respond to individuals experiencing crisis events in the community throughout Kings County. Provide emergency crisis coverage for individuals exhibiting behavioral health crises, ensuring timely responses within designated time frames. Deliver onsite therapeutic interventions and support to individuals and families in crisis, collaborating with other first responders as necessary for community-based stabilization. Assist the mobile team by providing support and guidance to team members as needed. Conduct brief mental health assessments to understand the individuals needs and discuss appropriate treatment recommendations. Make clinical judgments regarding the need for potential 5150/5585 placements for danger to self (DTS), danger to others (DTO), or grave disability (GD), and develop safety plans as needed. Discuss suitable referrals and provide case management and aftercare services as assigned. Stay informed about community resources to better assist clients. Assist in de-escalation efforts, aiming for crisis stabilization and appropriate diversion from hospitals and jails. Evaluate and assess the severity of behavioral health symptoms. Provide emergency crisis support to law enforcement for adults and youth exhibiting behavioral health crises. Complete necessary program documentation within established time frames. Offer behavioral health consultations, collaborating and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, external agencies, and medical health homes. Participate in on-call services on a rotational basis as required by the program. Maintain accurate, written clinical records of services provided, adhering to agency standards, COA, HIPAA, CCBHC, and CalAIMS guidelines, with timely documentation. Complete provider enrollment forms and reports for third-party payers or other external entities promptly. Provide consultation and training support for law enforcement, including ride-alongs, shift change updates, and involvement in Crisis Intervention Officer Training. Assist in promoting the agencys mission, services, workshops, and classes. May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff will be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with supervisor as soon as practically possible. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program.
What I bring
Master's degree: Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or Related.Current Associate Licensure ASW, AMFT, APCC. Must have a National Provider Identification (NPI) number or obtain an NPI number prior to start date.Class C Driving License1 year experience providing crisis management and/or mental health services.Working knowledge of community and hospital resources. Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft TEAMS and Internet access.Ability to quickly develop rapport with individuals to resolve crisis situations. Ability to assess individuals potential for dangerousness to self, others and/or grave disability. Ability to make a differential diagnosis between substance abuse and psychiatric emergencies. Ability to appropriately and immediately document client interactions. Ability to utilize computer technology and electronic health record.Must possess independent clinical judgment and the ability to critically assess a situation for risk and response. Strong communication skills and knowledge of crisis intervention, behavioral health and risk assessment.Substance Abuse clinical experience preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
