Job Description:

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in laboratory practices and a commitment to delivering high-quality diagnostic services. This role involves performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to support patient care.



Key Responsibilities:




Sample Collection and Preparation:

• Collect, process, and prepare biological specimens for analysis, ensuring adherence to established protocols.


• Label and document specimens accurately to maintain proper chain of custody and traceability.

Testing and Analysis:

• Perform a range of laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and serology, utilizing various laboratory instruments.


• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting issues as they arise to ensure optimal performance.

Quality Control:

• Conduct routine quality control checks to verify the accuracy and reliability of test results.


• Participate in quality assurance programs and comply with laboratory standards and regulations.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed, including results and any deviations from protocols.


• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines, adhering to laboratory policies and procedures.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with other laboratory personnel, pathologists, and healthcare providers to facilitate efficient workflow and accurate diagnoses.


• Communicate test results and any concerns to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.

Mentorship and Training:

• Assist in training and mentoring new staff and interns, promoting adherence to best practices and laboratory protocols.


• Stay updated on advancements in laboratory technology and techniques.

Qualifications:




Education:

• Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical laboratory setting, with a strong foundation in laboratory techniques and procedures.

Certifications:

• No ASCP license is required for this position.

Skills:

• Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and instruments.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.


• Excellent organizational and time management skills.


• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members and healthcare providers.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.


• Capability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform tasks involving fine motor skills.
