Full job descriptionWe are looking for an experienced accountant with public accounitng experience. Familiar with construction payment application process. Understanding of project management accounting. Comfortable with A/R collections, Journal entries, account recs and job reconciliation.Sr. AccountantJob DescriptionPurpose of the Job:This role will perform full cycle construction accounting including but not limited to account reconciliations, investigate, and correct discrepancies.Core Competencies:Accountability - accepts personal responsibility for quality and timeliness of his or her workCommunication - communicates well both verbally and in writingConsistency - consistently follows documented procedures and suggests change when necessaryTeamwork - builds good relationships and rapport with customers, peers, supervisors, and managers throughout the organizationEssential Functions:Perform monthly close and related journal entriesPrepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliationsPrepare monthly bank and credit card account reconciliationsMaintain the company chart of accountsPrepare weekly and monthly management and financial reportsPerform weekly review of job cost activity ensuring consistent and proper codingPrepare and distribute 1099sInterface with management in various departments including sales, construction, and purchasing.Other Tasks and Responsibilities:Analyze customer contracts and purchase orders and be cognizant of terms and conditions, schedule and other crucial contractual or logistical elements.Create projects in accounting software and set up billing milestonesWork with project manager to create project schedulesEnter cost estimates in accounting softwareMaintain relationships with key partners including banks, title companies, outside accounting firms, etc.Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies.Investigate and resolve data errors consistent with standard accounting practiceCommunicate processes, procedures and data with internal customers and department managementMonitor and analyze project financialsInvestigate project variances and submit reports to project managementReport on project profitability to management weekly project reviewTrack job costing information for management decision makingCreate monthly reports for management and key departmentsParticipate in month end, quarter end and year end closeCollect project billings from customersProvide administrative support to project managementEducation:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited college or equivalent experienceKnowledge,Skills and Experience:Minimum 3 years' experience in construction related accountingKnowledge of construction billing including AIA documentsStrong understanding of accounting software. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is preferredAbility to analyze large amounts of dataProficient with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power PointExcellent customer service skills including professional communication via phone and emailDemonstrated ability to problems solveMust have strong organizational skills to manage large amount of detailComfortable with A/R collectionsProject management accountingLiens and waiversEdit General Description
