SUMMARY
The Patient Services Representative interviews incoming patients or their representatives and enters information required for registrations into the Information system, operates switchboard, and maintains control of money received. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record patient's personal and financial information, and physician; enters data into the computer system; and secures patient's or representative's signature on all appropriate forms, routing forms to appropriate departments.Notifies appropriate department of patient's arrival.Verifies insurance information with third party payers.Stores patient's valuables.Responsible for the receipt of monies and the reconciliation of receipts to the daily deposit. Insures that all checks are properly endorsed before routing through the accounting system. Responsible for processing credit card transactions and maintaining petty cash.Records and enters receipts into the accounting system.Responsible for data entry or correction of charges.Greets guests promptly and courteously.Understands and is responsive to the communication and development needs of patients ranging in age from adolescent to geriatric.Responsible for the efficient and professional use of the switchboard system and routes incoming calls and information to the appropriate party.Accurately disburses the facilities incoming mail.Assists Patient Account Representatives and Financial Assistant in billing, insurance, and account balance inquiries.Assists in data collection for Quality Assurance/Improvement.Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.Compliant in following all rules and regulations for Government Agencies, Third Party Payers, Federal/State Statutes, and PMHC policies as a condition of employment.Responsible for personal development in attendance of educational programs/seminars.Presents a professional, pleasant and positive image.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) with keyboarding classes, business classes or related classes; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
