Academic Affairs Business Manager
Position SummaryThe Michigan State University College of Human Medicine's Academic Affairs invites applications for the Academic Affairs Business Manager. The Business Manager for Academic Affairs will report to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs (SADAA). This role provides leadership in financial and human resource operations within Academic Affairs, overseeing budget planning, financial monitoring, and compliance with contracts. Responsibilities include managing staff performance and collaborating with the Senior Associate Dean to create a productive work environment. Additionally, overseeing educational assignments within the medical school curriculum and ensuring community campuses meet accreditation requirements for resources and structure while driving initiatives to support the college's mission.
This position is located in East Lansing and requires occasional travel between campuses. Flexibility in scheduling is important, as early, evening, or weekend hours may be necessary. The role supports a hybrid work model, with an expectation of in-office attendance three days per week.
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management or other business related field; eight or more years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures and administration, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience in a supervisory role; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; experience with financial or accounting practices, human resources, developing and managing special projects or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders within a complex, matrixed organization.
