Come join our team of collaborative and innovative staff consisting of scientific researchers, physicians, and research professionals in the Applied Biostatistics and Database Manager group (ABDM) at the Surgery Department. The main goal of ABDM is to provide research support to investigators in the Surgery Department. Specifically, the ABDM supports the database, statistical and research methodology needs of the research life cycle of Surgery Department investigators by creating and managing research databases, sharing data from research databases, acquiring exisiting national and state-level databases, including Medicare, SEER-Medicare, MarketScan, National Cancer Database (NCDB), National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP), etc., data management, data analysis, research design and methodology, writing research abstracts, presentations and manuscripts.
The Data Coordinator will collaborate and communicate with supporting staff, Principal Investigators, and ABDM colleagues to assure accurate, independent, and complete entry of patient information into all required databases in accordance with clinical research protocols and federal regulations. This position is responsible for developing tools to gather required data and to facilitate compliant conduct of clinical research, work with biostatisticians to ensure data quality, and prepare reports and data summaries for assigned institutional trials. This position will design, implement, support and maintain databases as needed for research projects and trials; and ensure data accuracy and completeness by analyzing current processes, including processes and analysis projects summary data for quarterly and annual reports for the unit and contribute to developing strategies to improve business efficiency for the unit. This position will also prepare for and facilitate monitoring visits and audits. The Data Coordinator will also assist with completing submitted analysis proposal requests when needed.
