Job Description
Audits records in IHIS to determine if selected documentation meets the criteria of the definition of the Legal Medical Record (LMR), The Joint Commission standards (e.g., Record of Care Treatment & Services, Medical Services, etc.), Conditions of Participation, and HIMSS Stage 7. Disseminates audit results to partnering with multidisciplinary teams to address opportunities identified. Correlate data to present to Medical Documentation Steering Committee. Conducts board certification audits. Responsible for forms management, including but not limited to implementation of new and revised forms, maintaining the forms intranet, partnering with form vendor, communication and dissemination of forms updates and revisions, and adhering to forms standards. Participates with the downtime procedure team to ensure the units are operationally prepared. Collaborates with various departments on role responsibilities and special projects as assigned, including but not limited to Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Nursing, Accreditation, Information Technology, Clinicians, and MIM Operations to monitor the quality and content of the LMR, identifying opportunities and associated countermeasures. Conducts research on current rules & regulations and standards
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, associate degree, or equivalent experience preferred. Credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. One (1) to three (3) years Health Information Management experience is required. Requires diplomacy and tact when analyzing, investigating, developing, and reporting results.
