Air2o is seeking a motivated HVAC Simulation Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. As an HVAC Simulation Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, testing and optimizing HVAC systems using advanced simulation software. Working closely with a diverse team of engineers and developers, you will help craft innovative, sustainable and energy-efficient solutions that support our clients' goals to transform the energy industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Using advanced simulation software, design and engineer highly customized HVAC systems for large commercial applications, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and energy-efficient solutions
Simulate airflow, refrigerant flow and heat transfer in an HVAC cabinet - this includes simulating rotational geometry (fans), heat exchangers and filters using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software
Conduct Structural, Vibrational, Topology Optimization analyses on a wide variety of systems to improve quality of design & engineering
Optimize HVAC systems through parametric studies and sensitivity analyses
Write automation scripts to improve efficiency of simulations
Validate simulation results against real-world data and industry benchmarks
Incorporate the results of the simulations into actual high efficiency HVAC units
Collaborate with other engineers and architects to integrate HVAC designs into overall building plans
Stay current with evolving simulation technologies and HVAC industry trends
Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations on simulation findings
3+ years of experience in HVAC system design and thermodynamic modeling
Experience with CFD software like ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+ or CD-Adapco
Experience with running steady-state and transient thermodynamic system simulations
Proficiency in at least one major CAD package (Solidworks, Catia, Creo etc)
Proficiency in at least one automation script programming language (Perl, Python, C++ etc)
Proficiency in at least one major building energy simulation software package
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics principles
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
