Job Description:

My client is currently looking for a PE licensed Forensic Engineer to join their team in Atlanta, this firm is dedicated to providing expert forensic engineering services across a range of industries. Specializing in property damage assessments, delivering objective and reliable findings for our clients. Your focus will be on storm damage inspections, join a dynamic team in supporting the community with storm damage inspections.

Position Overview:

The Forensic Engineer will play a key role in assessing and analyzing damage caused by natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, hailstorms, and other severe weather events. You will be responsible for conducting on-site investigations, collecting data, and producing detailed reports for clients, insurance companies, and legal teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural engineering, a strong understanding of weather-related damage, and excellent communication skills to present findings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed forensic inspections of buildings and structures impacted by storms (wind, hail, flood, etc.).
  • Investigate and identify the cause and extent of damage to residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
  • Analyze engineering data, including construction blueprints, building codes, and weather conditions.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and well-supported forensic reports for insurance claims, legal disputes, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide expert witness testimony in legal proceedings, if necessary.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and consultants to determine the best methods for damage restoration.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest forensic engineering technologies, tools, and industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
  • 3+ years of experience in forensic engineering, with a focus on storm damage assessment preferred.
  • Expertise in storm damage including wind, hail, flooding, and structural integrity issues.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and materials.
  • Experience with report writing, data analysis, and delivering findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work in the field, including travel to affected areas, sometimes on short notice.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in forensic engineering software and tools (Xactimate, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
