PURPOSE: To establish and maintain an effective quality control program that produces a product that complies with the contract requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: **RC will gladly provide a reasonable accommodation to assist in performing these essential job functions so long as it does not create an undue burden.
Provide a full-time assistant to the QC Manager at the work site to perform the three phases of control, perform submittal review, ensure testing is performed, and prepare QC certifications and documentation required by this Contract.
Assist the CQC-Manager in an effective implementation and management of the QC program and QC staff daily, accurately documenting and ensuring contract compliance by: Interaction in a professional, courteous, and civil manner
Creating a cooperative environment with owner quality assurance (QA) representatives, subcontractors, and fellow workers
Setting examples of acceptable work practices including time management
Collaborating with the job start-up processes by attending pre-construction meetings as required to determine the owner's expectations for QC management
Determining QC tests, inspections, and meetings required before the start of each scope of work
Effectively anticipating and managing the inspection of subcontractors' material and installation requirements as required to maintain the schedule.
Ensure timely documentation of all QC requirements
Maintain an organized submittal filing system
Create and maintain an accurate and effective testing log
Produce a quality product per plans and specifications by: Having complete knowledge and understanding of all the plans, specifications, addendums, supplemental drawings, and shop drawings.
Routinely checking self-performance and subcontractor's work for quality and specification compliance.
Coordinating daily with CQC-Manager for all testing and inspections.
Executing the three phases of control; preparatory, initial, and follow-up.
Effectively document the project in a systematic and efficient format by: Accurately reporting all subcontractors on site, QC inspections, tests, man hours, and equipment hours in the Contractor's Daily Report
Coordinating with the CQC-Manager and Superintendent daily, and constantly improving the efficiency of the QC organization
Following QC documentation requirements set out in the project specifications, preconstruction meeting, and project QC plan.
Taking weekly job documentation photos and other photos as necessary
THE CQC ASSISTANT IS 100% ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE TO ASSIST THE CQC MANAGER IN:
Follow and enforce all company standards, systems, and policies
Read, know, understand, and execute the project CQC Plan
Upon delivery, inspect all materials supplied to the job to ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and approved submittals.
Immediately communicate any deficiency to the CQC Manager.
Schedule and coordinate all QC testing requirements so as not to delay the progress of the work
Take weekly job photos for the Project Manager's weekly progress report
Assist the Superintendent with the preparation of his or her 2 weeks 'Look Ahead' schedule to ensure that all QC requirements are properly scheduled
Participate in all preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections as required in the project QC plan
Retrieve a copy of the testing technician's daily field report for all tests or inspections
Attend the subcontractor's weekly coordination meeting and owner coordination meeting prepared to address all QC requirements
Coordinate with CQC Manager and subcontractors to ensure that all as built documentation is accurately recorded both electronically and in the red line as-built drawing set on a weekly basis.
Inspect and maintain quality workmanship built per industry standards and contract documents
Ensure all construction is built per the contract, plans, and specifications
Ensure work is built with the correct measurements, all work is complete before components are covered up and ensure the execution of all required inspections
Prepare ongoing, weekly, and final punch-list with Superintendent and complete all items
Satisfy the project Owner and maintain good, open communication channels
Review all project shop drawings and submittals to ensure full contract compliance prior to scheduling the preparatory inspection
Provide input in preparing a daily report of all activities, workers, inspections, etc. and coordinate with the Superintendent and all subcontractors
Know and understand complete project plans, specifications, documents, reports, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and requirements
Communicate daily with the CQC Manager and project team to discuss project quality requirements and deficiency
EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Three years of experience on projects similar in scope preferred
Must be familiar with the requirements of EM 385-1-1 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.
The Assistant QC Manager must be capable of reading, writing, and conversing fluently in the English language.
Strong teamwork and project-related skills, ensuring open communication channels across multiple functions and department
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Critical thinker with the ability to prioritize
Excellent verbal communication skills including tact and diplomacy and written communication skills with the ability to proof and edit documents for copy-editing, grammar, style, spelling, and punctuation
Ability to use organizational skills to manage simultaneously occurring tasks
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently
Experience preferred with DoD, FAA/Federal, and DOT Proposal Requirements
