The Chief Technology Officer will oversee the development and optimization of the digital media non-profit's website, mobile applications, and OTT channels. This role involves leading the internalization of our current outsourced development team while managing a growing in-house tech team. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach, providing technical leadership and vision to drive our digital strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Tech Stack Ownership: Assess, understand, and optimize the current web and mobile technology setup.
In-House Development: Transition web and mobile app management from outsourced teams to in-house developers.
Team Leadership: Manage existing staff, including the Director of Product and Content Management team. Recruit, train, and lead new hires such as Front-End and Back-End Developers, and UX professionals.
Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors (web and app developers), ensuring alignment with our technology goals.
Website & Mobile Uptime: Maintain high uptime and redundancy, developing contingency plans to ensure resilience, especially in challenging environments
Strategic Planning: Drive the vision and development for the 6-month, 12-month, and 2-year plans for website and mobile app functionality, look, and performance.
Qualifications:
Experience: 5-7+ years in a senior technology leadership role (CTO, VP of Technology, etc.) within a digital media company or something similar.
Technical Expertise: Proven ability to program and deep knowledge of back-end and front-end technologies. Javascript, React, React Native, LAMP, Social Media API integrations
Leadership: Strong track record in building and managing diverse technology teams and leading cross-functional collaborations with internal teams and external partners.
Entrepreneurial Spirit: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scrappy environment with the ability to make a significant impact with limited resources.
