AM/NS Calvert seeks IT professionals to maintain and improve automation functions at its facility in Calvert, Alabama. The Op Tech Rolling Mills Engineer is responsible for Level 2 process automation projects supporting the rolling mills through the design and implementation of applications, databases, hardware, and HMI systems to meet business goals. Daily activities include: Lead assigned Level 2 automation projects; Design, implement and test changes to Rolling Mill Level 2 software, databases, servers and HMI systems; Ensure and optimize availability, performance, and quality of Rolling Mill Level 2 systems; Provide daily data and performance analysis of Rolling Mill automated control software, databases, servers, and human/machine interfaces to identify and diagnose problems within the system; Use data analysis to develop and test solutions to identified problems, as well as continuous improvement initiatives; Perform complex coding programming and configuring tasks to develop and test proposed system solutions; Provide day-to-day analytical support on effectiveness of automated process performance during major ramp-ups and roll-outs; Contribute analysis and content to technical manuals and training tools to assist other employees in operating and maintenance activities; Maintain constant familiarity with engineering and scientific principles underlying the company's steel refining processes in order to better analyze the effectiveness of automated control systems and components. Must have Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering field (foreign equivalent accepted). Must have two years of experience in software development and maintenance for automated control applications in industrial environment.
