MAU is hiring a Welding Process Engineer for our client in Gainesville, GA. As a Welding Process Engineer, you will lead, design, develop, and optimize welding processes by analyzing products and welding methods to improve operational efficiency. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology
A minimum of eight years of experience in welding engineering, specifically related to GMAW and/or RSW
Proven experience working in high-optionality, low- to medium-volume production environments
General Requirements:
Strong skills in managing complexity, effective communication, leadership, and team supervision
Expertise in manufacturing methods, procedures, and quality assurance
Ability to present technical information clearly and influence others without authority
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in construction or agricultural equipment manufacturing
Familiarity with American Welding Society (AWS) standards
Knowledge of industry metallurgical and mechanical testing standards and best practices
An advanced degree in a manufacturing-related engineering field
Understanding ultrasonic inspection and non-destructive testing fundamentals
Essential Functions:
Develop and optimize manufacturing welding processes by analyzing product requirements and conducting research, design, modification, and testing of welding methods and equipment
Ensure product and process quality by designing robust welding processes, implementing welding procedures, and maintaining thorough documentation
Lead and refine visual, macroscopic, and mechanical welding standards specifically for GMAW and RSW of ferrous alloys
Create, review, and approve Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) for operational processes
Collaborate with North American suppliers to enhance welding operations, focusing on improving overall quality and delivery
Support the Quality Department by providing expertise in weld inspection techniques and processes
Assist the Training Department in onboarding new welders and oversee the certification of manual welders throughout North America
Manage project-related activities for new product initiatives or modifications to existing programs, ensuring transparency in scope, timelines, budgets, design details, team coordination, quotations, and vendor procurement
Prepare detailed reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing product and process data and trends
Drive manufacturing excellence by supporting safety, productivity, and quality targets through process design, optimization projects, and Kaizen initiatives
Maintain compliance with government regulations to uphold product and company reputation
Collaborate with maintenance and robot programming teams to establish preventive maintenance initiatives for new equipment, following manufacturer guidelines
Maintain and update product and process databases through programming and data entry
Develop, record, and securely store welding parameters for future reference
Oversee the implementation of new or revised processes by providing training to technicians
Stay current with professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and participation in professional societies
Contribute to team success by supporting colleagues and mentoring employees at all levels in welding fundamentals
Work Environment or Working Conditions:
Ability to work in extreme heat and cold conditions
Comfortable working in loud environments
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and remain on your feet for extended periods, as well as walk throughout the shop floor
Capacity to sit at a desk for administrative tasks
Dexterity to use hands and fingers effectively
Ability to reach with arms as needed
Proficient in operating power and handheld tools
Travel:
Willingness to travel up to 30% within Georgia and to other domestic locations
