Position Overview:
My client is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team in the Miramar office. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in estimating for multi-family projects and extensive knowledge of the South Florida construction market. This role requires a self-starter with strong technical, analytical, and communication skills. You will be a key contributor in ensuring accurate project estimates and maintaining efficiency in bidding and procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate bid packages using Procore to send Invitations to Bid (ITB) to subcontractors.
Solicit qualified subcontractors, suppliers, and outside professionals to create comprehensive and competitive estimates.
Review and analyze specifications, blueprints, proposals, and construction documents to fully understand project requirements.
Perform detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs using estimation software.
Review, level, and perform risk assessments on subcontractor bids.
Communicate effectively with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies between quantity takeoffs and subcontractor bids.
Develop accurate and reliable line-item budgets for construction projects.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strict organization and adherence to deadlines.
Assist in the distribution of plans, specifications, and bid documents to ensure timely and complete submissions.
Participate in the budgeting and value-engineering processes on each project.
Create detailed scopes of work and buy-out packages for subcontractor awards.
Preferred Experience:
Candidates with 5+ years of estimating experience in multi-family construction, specifically with a general contractor in South Florida, are highly preferred. Familiarity with the Contractor Specification Institute (CSI) trade organization codes and fluency in Spanish are advantageous.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in construction management or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an estimator in multi-family residential construction.
Strong understanding of construction terminology and estimation software.
Exceptional organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Notary certification preferred but not required.
