Purchasing Agent performs daily purchasing activities to meet operational needs. Incumbent is responsible for identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts, and purchasing goods and services efficiently. This role requires collaboration with management to develop strategies and sourcing solutions. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are utilized to manage priorities and align activities with company goals.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate suppliers on quality, price, service, and delivery. Analyze market trends and pricing for cost savings and budget compliance.
  • Recommend alternative products or suppliers to enhance cost efficiency and operations.
  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts for favorable terms and prices.
  • Review purchase requisitions and choose suitable suppliers and products. Source materials, tools, and rental equipment at optimal prices. Ensure procurement complies with policies and regulations.
  • Create and track detailed purchase orders, subcontracts and change orders using established software programs.
  • Maintain and forecast inventory levels for shop stock and disposables to avoid shortages or excess.
  • Work closely with departments such as Production, Operations, and Finance to address procurement needs.
  • Resolve issues related to deliveries, quality, or invoicing in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Monitor and report procurement metrics and KPIs.
  • Ensure completion of routine building maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers critical to business operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills Desired:
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience with a proven track record in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high levels of customer service and successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with prior supervisory experience considered a plus.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of fluke and communication materials.
  • Forklift certification is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Strong initiative to improve processes and deliver value.
  • Ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
