Role Overview Analyze and interpret tax regulations and prepare required tax reports so that the organization meets its tax obligations and objectives. Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve processes. Serve as a liaison between the tax department and other departments across the organization. Provides analytical insights to drive strategic decision-making. Works on large, complex projects and develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Independently performs a range of complex assignments. May formally train junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Support tax compliance, tax reporting, tax planning, etc. with the goal of supporting efficient and effective processes through use of automation tools, optimizing use of existing systems, and collaborating with other functions
Assist in understanding and documenting current state processes, data requirements, and data sources to plan and implement future state processes
Serve as a liaison between the tax department and other Greif teams (IT, external reporting, etc.)
Assist in developing and facilitating training for tax department to build the technology skillset among the members of the tax team
Build automated processes that leverage and optimize use of available tools (Power BI, Power Query, Corptax Office, Corptax Data Connect, Oracle SmartView, Access, Alteryx, etc.) with forward looking, adaptable, and scalable mindset
Serve as an administrator for existing tools within the tax department including SharePoint and Corptax
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
Typically possesses a bachelor's degree in accounting (or relevant field) and 4-8 years of experience. Previous experience in tax technology/transformation role or public accounting preferred
Knowledge And Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with accounting and tax software (Corptax experience preferred).
Outstanding organizational, documentation, and project management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
Inquisitive and motivated self-learner.
Experienced and comfortable with tools related to accounting, tax, and enterprise technologies, including full mastery of Microsoft applications (Excel, Teams, Power BI etc). Experience in utilizing ERP systems to access key data efficiently is a plus.
Working knowledge and proficiency with automation and database tools (Microsoft Power Platform, Alteryx, SQL).
Experience and deep understanding of tax processes in both domestic and international tax matters is a plus.
