Type: full-time

Job Description:

***noted below, but this position REQUIRES an active CPA license***

Remote work and an exciting position with great pay?! Let's get to it shall we?

Have you reached your ceiling with technical and client service work in public accounting, and wish there were other things you could be involved in?

Perhaps you've been in a similar role and simply wish to find an opportunity that is fully remote offering you greater flexibility.

Whatever your situation, this type of role being fully remote is a more rare opportunity so it's probably worth reading on.

What's in it for you?
  • Fully remote from day 1
  • Full benefits offer including 100% employer contribution for employee only health coverage, dental, vision, and $3k annually contributed to an HSA
  • Unlimited PTO with some blackout restrictions
  • 40 hours per week during most of the year and an expectation that it rises to around 50 for a few weeks of the busy season each year
  • Small team in an established firm with a strong niche focus and amazing opportunity for growth for the company
  • Compensation range is broad at $100,000-$150,000 with an additional profit sharing opportunity

So what exactly is this role and what's needed?

This person for this role will be tasked with mostly management responsibilities and some select technical responsibilities as follows:
  1. Provide an awesome tax service experience for clients. This is both technical in knowing income tax compliance for individuals and small businesses and in being able to help coach the team so they're better able to support the small portion of tax work the firm has.
  2. Ensure the firm's accounting and tax processes are executed efficiently and with high quality.
  3. Lead the team - the owner of the firm is looking to step back from direct team leadership so all of the team management responsibility will be a key element of this role.
  4. Support new client onboarding and ensure the firm's clients' needs are being met and that they are thriving

There are some requirements for this role and they should make sense with what's described above:
  • Must be licensed as a CPA. No alternate credentials will be acceptable.
  • Significant experience in public accounting in a client service capacity
  • Sufficient income tax knowledge as it applies to individuals and small business tax issues such as entity selection for tax purposes and ways to manage business activity to be tax efficient.

Here are some other things that should probably resonate with you:
  • You enjoy this stuff. Tax is not a chore and neither is managing a team. You thrive when you get to exercise your gifts in these areas.
  • You're experienced in managing people effectively. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to managing people. You enjoy learning what makes each person on the team tick and how to help them be their best.
  • You're organized and action-oriented. This is not a passive role. You'll wade in as you learn, and will be confident in applying your previous experience.

If you've made it this far, and are interested and excited, congrats! We'd love to hear from you with your application. We expect a great response from outstanding candidates, and can't wait to meet you!
