Interim DCQI Director, 13 week contract, 40 hours per week.
This leadership role will direct others within the facility towards process improvements that will support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. This position provides leadership for safety assessments, oversees the activities of the patient safety function, educates other practitioners on the system-based cause for medical errors, consults with management and staff, and communicates evidence-based ideas regarding effective patient outcome strategies to others within the organization. Key responsibilities of this position also include working with all services to hardwire reliable delivery of healthcare systems that incorporate best practice patient safety methodologies.
Job Duties
Ensure hospital wide compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations.
Achieve & Maintain Three Year The Joint Commission Accreditation.
Implement and maintain the goals of Tenet "Commitment to Quality" initiatives.
Ensure that data documenting the results of patient care procedures are collected on a concurrent (real-time) basis in electronic format.
Organizes Process Improvement activities on an as needed basis related to the strategic initiatives of the organization and priorities set forth by senior leadership and the Governing Board.
Ensure that the performance improvement activities improve patient care outcomes by ensuring that:
Hospital practices reflect the best known science
Best practices are identified and emulated
Variations in clinical processes are reduced
Reversible causes of patient care complications are identified, reduced or eliminated
DRG specific patient outcomes are both measured and continuously improved
Assumes implementation responsibilities for change activities required to re-engineer hospital clinical processes.
Prepares reports quarterly (or more frequent basis) which document the results of patient care activities as required by Tenet senior management.
Selects clinical topics for review and analysis by Medical Staff Monitoring Committees after consultation with Tenet regional and Clinical Quality Personnel.
Educates Governing Board, Medical Staff Leaders and Hospital Administrative Staff concerning current trends in quality.
Ensures that hospital CME activities reflect recommendations formulated by Performance Improvement/Quality Review Committees/Teams.
Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information, quality review data and peer review information.
Qualifications
Current California Registered Nurse License or B.A. in related HealthCare field.
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) - preferred
Knowledgeable as evidenced by completion of courses in The Joint Commission Standards, CMS and Title 22 Regulations, Safety/Risk Management, Infection Control, Performance Improvement, Medical Staff Services functions.
Evidence of completion of Management/Leadership Education and/or experience.
Exhibits computer operational skills and understanding of database systems.
Ability to interpret and process data in an analytical manner.
Mustdemonstrate understanding of current trendsin quality and cost management.
Must be able towork as a "Change Agent" to motivate relevant constituencies to enthusiastically embrace change as required by clinical re-engineering initiatives.
