Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Director of Production and Facility at HITS Theatre in Houston, TX. The Director of Production & Facility is responsible for overseeing the production operations and facility management for HITS Theatre and off-site facilities. They will ensure efficient production processes, maintain high-quality standards, and manage the overall maintenance and safety of the facilities. This role serves on the Leadership Team, reporting to the Executive Director, and collaborates with the Education, Advancement, and Finance departments to ensure classes, backstage operations, rentals, and special events run smoothly, are appropriately staffed, and within budget.

This position is responsible for securing and facilitating rentals (Space or Equipment), maintaining facility permits and contracts.

Core Responsibilities
• Develop and implement production strategies to optimize efficiency and productivity
• Manage and coordinate production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of technical elements (costumes, props, lights, sound, video, stage management)
• Oversee facility maintenance, repairs, and improvements
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement appropriate measures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve overall operations
• Recruit and hire skilled technical artists and work with volunteers to complete organizational goals
• Develop an annual production and facility budget in collaboration with E.D. and Leadership

• Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
• Manual dexterity for operating equipment and tools
• Ability to lift up to 30+ pounds
• Ability to speak and communicate to workers and volunteers to perform tasks

Education Requirements

Bachelors

Supervisory Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a team of production staff and facility maintenance personnel including approving schedules and timesheets
• Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to team members
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to ensure smooth workflow
• Serve on the Leadership Team and submit weekly reports including tracked data, workflow and personnel updates
• Coordinate production meetings & collaborate with production & design teams to meet deadlines and budgets
