Sales Engineering Manager

Direct Hire | Onsite | Minimal Travel

Menomonee Falls, WI

Salary up to $140,000 (Depending on experience)

SCOPE I FUNCTION

Customer Relationship Building and Maintenance/Technical Background
  1. Technical Liaison between the company and its customers.
  2. Responsible to cultivate new customers and work closely with the existing customer base through sales calls, both internal and external visits and travel, including international customers.
  3. Responsible to monitor and report on customer satisfaction and follow up on all customer concerns.

Quoting
  1. Responsible for coordinating the timely quotation of customer inquiry both through direct reports and hands-on. This includes the coordination of getting updated prices for materials and outside services. Position requires hands-on ability to quote.
  2. Organizes, coordinates, supervises, and participates in the development of the sales engineering data required to adapt company products to customers requirements.
  3. Performs engineering assignments having to do with the application of company's products to meet customers' requirement.
  4. Responsible for monitoring pricing strategy in the marketplace, following up on dead quotes and analyzing reasons for losing orders.
  5. Responsible for getting quotes out to the customer in a timely manner. This includes getting all current prices for materials, outside services, etc....
  6. Involves external communication with customers and suppliers.

Incoming Order Maintenance (Bookings)
  1. Responsible for ensuring the shop floor is fully loaded on a monthly basis based on the designated metric documented in the Executive Management Meetings. This metric will move based on the breakeven point for the company and the amount of direct labor employees on the shop floor.
  2. Works to assure facility is loaded at top capacity per agreed upon Executive Management Metrics.

Contract Review
  1. Audit 003 Responsible for assuring that the new orders brought into the facility are accurate both in price and lead time before sending on for acknowledgment. Orders waiting for update are managed on the Audit 003 Report and the quantity of orders awaiting acknowledgement should be minimal.
  2. Assures accuracies of order entry, print revisions, material requirements, customer purchase order requirements.
  3. Coordinates with other engineers the customer files and routing development.

Departmental Supervision
  1. Develops and gives direction to an adequate sales representative group and coordinates related functions.
  2. Assures that all employees working in the department are given adequate training and opportunity for career growth.
  3. Completes performance evaluations on sales personnel.
  4. Works with Continuous Improvement on new projects involving the department as well as follow through on corrective actions involving Sales Department.

Budgeting & Forecasts
  1. Submittal of sales forecasts & sales budget and responsible for maintenance of both.

Stocking Programs
  1. Responsible for recommending customer stocking programs and monitoring progress/ success.

Executive Management Team/Strategic Planning
  1. Participates in the monthly Executive Management Review giving input on strategy and direction for the organization.

Marketing
  1. Responsible for management and coordination of all marketing initiatives including the Company Website, LinkedIn, Facebook accounts and sending out Christmas E-Cards.

ISO Operating Instructions
  1. Development and upkeep of ISO Operating Instructions related to areas of Responsibility.
  2. Assurance that personnel are trained on operatin2: instructions and Procedures.
  3. Responsible to audit all aspects of the sales processes to assure sustaining of operating instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. A minimum of ten years within a manufacturing environment, metals machining preferred with a background in sales/engineering/manufacturing
  2. Experience with Babbitt Bearings
  3. Ability to read prints and quote product
  4. Proven sales record Manufacturing/Engineering background and experience
  5. Customer Service Orientated
  6. Progressive growth from manufacturing to customer service/sales/engineering orientation
  7. Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Business/Manufacturing
