Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid NYS Administrative Certificate (SDA/SDL) or be eligible for the same;
  • Must possess an understanding of NYSED Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities;
  • Must demonstrate expertise in Part 200 Regulations and CSE Procedures, Specially Designed Instruction, and the development of quality compliant IEPs;
  • Must possess an understanding of related service area programs and staff;
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
  • Must possess a broad background of educational experience in the area(s) of administration, supervision, teaching, and/or curriculum development;
  • Certification in Special Education or a related field preferred;
  • Experience as a building or district administrator preferred

Description:

The Assistant Director of PPS for Private/Parochial/Charter Schools is responsible for facilitating CSE procedures and providing case management and oversight of educational programming for all students parentally placed at Private, Parochial and Charter Schools, with a focus on the planning and implementation of the Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities, and oversight of behavioral and academic support for all students. 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct collaboration with Charter Schools and Private and Religious Schools in Greece for students with an IEP/IESP, or students suspected of having an educational disability.
  • Provide consultation and ongoing support for the oversight of special education programming in Private, Parochial, and Charter Schools
  • Case management of students including collaboration with parents, school personnel, transportation, district of residence personnel, registration, BOCES 2, and any agencies/staff providing services for students.
  • Manage and facilitate CSE process for Reevaluations, Program Reviews, Annual Reviews, Amendments, Pattern Determination and Manifestation Determination meetings to meet regulatory timelines and NYSED procedural mandates
  • Manage CSE procedures including securing mandatory documents and information, and completing input into the IESP/IEP pre and post CSE meetings.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Initial Eligibility process including student observations, collaboration with school personnel to secure Response to Intervention data, development of Prior Written Notice, contracting with BOCES and outside agencies for evaluations, and oversight of scheduling meetings with mandated participants within regulatory guidelines.  
  • Ensure that services recommended by the CSE are requested and arranged
  • Ongoing communication and collaboration with administrative personnel at all schools including mentoring regarding process, regulations, timelines; problem solving issues at the school level
  • Assist parentally placed students/parents with the registration process when moving into Greece or leaving a Charter/Private/Religious School.
  • Serve as a liaison with Assistant Directors of PPS regarding Greece resident students transferring from Charter/Private/Religious Schools to a Greece School
  • Communicate with the Assistant Director of PPS for Out of District Students and the Finance Department regarding annual BOCES service projections for students who are parentally placed in Private, Parochial, and Charter schools
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department regarding accurate and timely billing/payment for services for students; including reviewing and verifying billing documentation
  • Develop reports and corrective action plans and proposals to improve services
  • Support the functions of the PPS Department, including participation in meetings and professional learning
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of PPS and/or Executive Director of PPS, including attendance at administrative meetings and Board of Education meetings as requested.
