We're seeking a dedicated Ward Clerk to enhance patient care and support our nursing staff in a dynamic environment. This role is vital for maintaining accurate records, coordinating communication, and ensuring smooth operations.
Essential Duties:
Record medical and administrative information per charting policies.
Maintain and submit the Daily Census Report to nursing supervisors.
Keep an updated resident roster for your unit.
Process resident charge slips for the Business Office.
Answer phones, relay messages, and manage calls.
Maintain current emergency contact lists for your unit.
Prepare daily tardy and absentee reports for the Business Office.
Transcribe physicians' orders into care plans and medication records.
Report discrepancies in charting and orders to nursing supervisors.
Review medication cards for accuracy and completeness.
Document nurses' notes to reflect resident care and responses.
Forward new diet orders to the Food Services Director.
Notify next-of-kin of changes in resident conditions as directed.
Assist with admitting, transferring, and discharging residents.
Complete necessary records during admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Participate in facility committee meetings as required.
Collaborate with nursing staff to coordinate work assignments and schedules.
Inform staff of new admissions and their details.
Greet and escort new residents upon admission.
Encourage timely physician documentation.
Communicate resident deaths to family as instructed and assist with funeral arrangements.
Attend annual training programs (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, Safety).
Contribute to the infection control program and monitor health regulations.
Report equipment and supply needs to nursing supervisors.
Ensure all staff are aware of residents' care plans.
Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
Record and file incidents/accidents per policy.
Treat all residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Must at the least have a high school diploma or GED
CNA license is a plus
Knowledge of insurances is a plus
Must be organized, self-sufficient, and have a positive attitude!
